CAROLINE'S FIELD
ROCKHAMPTON - SHORT DOCUMENTARY - CLIENT | FOREST OF AVON TRUST - JULY 24

[SYNOPSIS]
The third film in the Forest of Avon series tells the story of Gareth and his journey to create an area of nature in memory of his late wife. Caroline and Gareth shared a lifelong interest in natural history and wildlife — orchids in Crete, butterflies in northern Greece, birds in the south of Spain. When Caroline died in 2019, the three-acre field they had bought with intentions of doing something ecological became the project.

[TRANSCRIPT]
"Caroline and I met in Switzerland in 1979. We always had been interested, each of us, in natural history and wildlife.
It was only after Caroline died in 2019 that I began to think about what could practically be done. The Forest of Avon Trust came in really quite early, and introduced an element of realism into my rather airy-fairy plans.
If you want to create something lasting of ecological value, then you've got bodies like Forest of Avon Trust who are able to make your dreams happen. Rockhampton is a small village. Nobody's yet died of excitement here. But we keep ourselves entertained."
